HAPPY TALENT TUESDAY!
I have a super exciting and special interview just for you guys!
Remember one of my first posts…EVER?!
Well if you don’t….the interview was with the creator and designer behind 1994 Brand!
His name is NICHOLAS MAURO and he is truly so TALENTED!
Catch up with that interview here if you want!
(isn’t he just beautiful?!)
An amazing thing came from that interview we did together…I became really close friends with Nicholas! He is such an amazing person that has amazing things ahead of him for his future. I am so excited for the great things he has accomplished and is scheduled to accomplish since our last interview together! I am also so thankful to have him as a friend! For never having met in person…he is there for me in ways other people aren’t.
Now I said this would be special…and well….it definitely will be considering it is an interview with one of my buds, and the creator of a successful brand!
So short backstory here….1994 Brand is no more(save your tears though! it’s exciting news) and is now just NICHOLAS MAURO. Nick made the decision to have his name as his brand so he can move towards a designer rather than just a brand! He really was the face of 1994 Brand anyhow…so there is nothing to cry about there! Nick will tell you a little more about it in our interview together!
Before I share this interview with you, I just have to let you know….PREPARE yourself! Nick is a charmer…you may fall in love with him (for the second time) after reading this interview!
So here you go!! My follow up interview with…
So since I last interviewed you, a lot has been happening for you! I understand you recently signed with the Marendo Group? Want to tell us how that has changed things for you?
Yes! I’m officially working with the Marendo Group. It has been a year in the making, but it is finally showtime. The Marendo group represents top talent all over the world. Working with the Marendo Group, I will be able to seek avenues I would never have been able to take by myself. So many doors have/will open for me. We are always working. I have some huge things in the works, some of which I’m not able to talk about at this time, but you’ll see! I’m so blessed to be working with such a huge/knowledgeable team, who wants nothing more than to see me succeed.
I also understand that you’re moving from a brand and into a designer? How is the process of transferring over going to work?
Hmmmm….That is a great question! I think the biggest thing is to get people to realize that i’m not just the kid from 1994 Brand anymore. We have already started to phase out 1994, and on January 1st that phase out will be in full effect.
What is one of the most challenging things about changing something you’ve already become so successful at?
It’s definitely hard to step away from something that has become something bigger than I ever thought. Even though 1994 Brand is no longer, I’m still going to put the same passion and hard work behind everything I do. 1994 was a stepping stone for me. I can’t even tell you how many custom flannels I’ve done over this past year. I can’t thank my customers enough for supporting. They are the reason I am where I am/am going.
We are all dying to know…what is on your current playlist?!
Oh boy! lol. I listen to the strangest variety of music…here goes nothing
You have had a flannel featured in Demi Lovato’s music video! How crazy was that feeling?!
Crazy, I know! I actually wanted to throw up when I found out lol. I’m really close with Sirah, who was the featured artist on Demi’s new single “Waitin for you”. She told me she was doing a collaboration with Demi and at the time I just wanted to make her a flannel to pretty much congratulate her for her hard work. A couple of weeks went by and I was about to fall asleep when I got a text from Sirah telling me to go to Demi’s VEVO account. So I did, and I saw my flannel! I wanted to throw up and cry. It was the coolest feeling ever.
I love that you’ve also been doing flannels for charity! How did you collaboration with Jess Bowen come to life?
Yes! My team actually connected me with Jess over the summer. We had numerous chats about how Jess and I wanted to work with each other. We finally picked “Puppies over People” All Jess’s idea! We decided that we wanted to donate 10% from each flannel to Bark N’ Bitches, a local animal shelter in California. Jess is so sweet and genuine. Working with her has been such a blast.
If you had to make yourself a flannel of your own, what would you put on it?
It’s actually funny that you ask me this. A lot of my Instagram followers ask me why I have never made myself a flannel. I just haven’t had the time to! But if I had to make myself one, it would probably say “Damaged Teen Idol” Don’t ask why haha, or my last name.
We saw that you went to the New York AXIS show this summer to promote your lip balms you collaborated with Birch Rose on! How was that?
It was SO much fun. I got asked to go to the AXIS show by my friend Beckah who owns Birch Rose, the skin care company who I collaborated with on my lip balms. I really think that was the chance of a lifetime. It was a private event, but I got to meet so many buyers and other vendors who make cool things! I would definitely go again!
And just for fun….if you were in LA…who is one celebrity you would hope to run into?
Probably Ellie Goulding. She’s fabulous AF.
So basically…if you’re not in love with Nick yet….what on earth is wrong with you?!
I am so excited to say though…that Nick will be here in a little over 2 weeks!!
Get ready for tons of selfies, Instagram posts and possibly a vlog for my Youtube channel with him?!
Who knows what we will get into!
But anyways..here are all the links you need to get in touch with Nicholas Mauro!
As always…I hope you enjoyed!
